Hello there, I’m Ana…

And I teach people who work for hours in front a computer how to live with less stress and anxiety. Using the tools of yoga and mindfulness I help you feel good every day.

Yoga and meditation are my passions… but once upon a time I used to be an academic at the University of Amsterdam.

Yup, that’s right! With 2 bachelors, a MA, a PhD and 4 languages under my belt, I decided to quit one of the most prestigious European universities to become a yoga and mindfulness professional.

And how does someone quit academia and pursue a career in yoga and mindfulness?

Well… there was a time of my life when I:

Struggled to fall asleep at night because I couldn’t stop my thoughts.

Woke up every morning with a tight chest, I couldn’t breathe deeply.

My head, neck, shoulders and back hurt weekly.

Couldn’t really enjoy my free time.

Spent hours and hours working in front of my laptop.

If you have lots of stress and anxiety these symptoms will feel familiar.

When I was an academic, stress and anxiety were part of my daily life. To the point that they ended up becoming a lifestyle. Then, this lifestyle turned into a habit that felt normal, familiar. But in 2017 my body and my mind said: “enough.”

As a result, I ended up with a burnout that put my life to a halt. I had no energy: nothing, nada, none.

Returning to academia would make me sick again and I definitely didn’t want to get another burnout.

I was lost and I didn’t know how to get back on track and have a balance again.

Until I learned that stress and anxiety are habits of the mind.
And that these mental habits can be trained and transformed into healthier ones.

As a cliché as it sounds, practising yoga and mindfulness changed my life.

Their influence was so powerful that I quitted academia.

After that, I took a 200h yoga training (certified by the Registered Yoga Alliance) and a category 1 mindfulness training (at the Centrum voor Mindfulness in Amsterdam).

Since then, I apply yoga and mindfulness both in life and in my profession.

Now that you know a bit about myself, I’m curious, does my story resonate with yours? Do you live with a lot of stress and anxiety?

Do you feel that there’s something that you’d like to change but you don’t know how or where to start?

I’ve got your back!

I’m a ninja when it comes to creating healthier and sustainable habits for your body and your mind.

My methodology

ana_anjalimudra

My lessons combine the ancient practices of yoga and mindfulness with the latest scientific research.

When I am with my students I mindfully focus on their needs and experience.

Then, I add an extra layer of respect, humour and kindness. I believe that compassion and a good sense of humour are key to a healthy life.

“Before reaching out and starting to work with Ana, I felt overwhelmed by work, my mind was constantly busy and my body was feeling tired, with a need to exercise more but no energy available to put towards that. I’m excited to continue on this path with Ana, as I’m seeing how the work we do together helps me be pain-free, more focused and just generally more relaxed and more grateful.” Ana Ana Maria B. (Victoria, Canada) online individual program student.

A little bit more personal stuff about myself…

I enjoy helping and understanding others, our society. That’s why I trained as a social worker, sociologist and became an expert in intra-European migration with a PhD in political science.

I love music and how it knows no physical nor mental boundaries. I’m always humming a tune and you’ll definitively hear me sing while I teach.

Humour is extremely underrated. Nothing like a laughter to genuinely connect with the present moment, to feel alive, relieved, content. That’s why I truly enjoy seeing my students smile.

I have green fingers and I frequently use the analogy of “planting seeds” in my work. I prefer to water and nurture something every day, focusing on the process, than waiting for a miraculous outcome from day to night.

«The techniques from this training help me to look inside and increase my self-awareness, as a first step towards improving my daily life. You have to accept your monkey mind and learn how to deal with it with compassion and curiosity. I appreciated Ana’s empathy and inquisitiveness together with her respectful attitude.»
Alejandro Jiménez (Amsterdam, the Netherlands) online program student.
